The 50th anniversary of the Bollington Festival in 2014 is going to be a very special event, and to mark this momentous occasion local residents James Nicholas (an award winning TV News cameraman) and Amanda Stott (a local business owner) have decided to make a movie. The Bollington Movie is one of the most ambitious contributions to the Bollington Festival ever undertaken and at the very least it is hoped that it will become a part of local folklore and certainly something that the community will treasure for posterity.

Debra Tracey — The Bollington Movie Scriptwriter
In 2011 a script was requested for the project and there were many excellent contributions. After very careful consideration by a panel of five judges it was eventually decided that local resident and mosaic artist Debra Tracey had produced the winning story. The script is still a secret, but we can reveal that it is an interesting, multifaceted story intended for a ‘family’ audience and with a remit to provide ‘something for everyone’. The film makers now also know that they are looking to produce a piece that will be up to 60 minutes long, involve dancing, music, a large cast, a variety of local locations and a huge contingent of extras!

The objective now is to find as many local volunteers to help with the project as possible. This is to be a community project in every sense of the word, something the community will be proud of, be enthused by or even a golden C.V. opportunity for local budding actors, film makers or those with a desire to enter the media industries. The project will require input from musicians and composers too and is also a great opportunity for musicians to showcase their work in the context of film / TV drama.
A meeting is to be held by the production team at the Ovenhouse Lane Community Centre on Wednesday the 21st March at 6:30pm and all are welcome. The organisers would like as many local people to attend this meeting as possible as it will be the first stage of recruitment into various activities on the project, including acting and performance roles.
